Caio is one of our new junior front-end web developers. Let's get to know him a bit better and find out what makes him tick...
Tell us a little bit about yourself…
I am originally from Brazil, married since 2018 and have travelled to more than 20 countries so far. I really like to meet people, know their culture, language, food. I’m just fascinated about how big and different the world is.
What do you enjoy most about working in development?
I’ve always enjoyed development, playing around with code and building simple pages. But I took a different path when I started my graduation and so I became a Forest Engineer. After a few years working, I realized that career wasn’t the one for me. In that point I decided to change and become a developer was my first thought.
How beneficial is web development to a business? Specifically, how do think this will benefit the NFP and charity sector?
I think web development is an important part of any business. For example, if you want to find more customers for your shop or find donations for your charity, there´s no better way than through a website. We are living in a time where almost everything is connected through technology, if you have the right tools you can build whatever you want.
What is your proudest achievement in your web development career – any projects in particular that stand out?
The project that I enjoyed the most was building a charity catalogue. It was the last project of a development course that I did and it was amazing. I used different technologies, learned new technics and the end result was great.
Being a web developer is a little bit like being a professional problem solver, when faced with a challenge, how do you prefer to tackle it?
To be honest I love challenges, in development I think every day we face a different challenge. More often than not, something you think is going to be simple is more complicated or vice-versa. Developers need to be prepared for the unexpected, use the right tools and of course having an amazing team is important.
What's one thing you couldn't live without?
That’s a hard question. I think it would have to be my family.
What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?
I’m usually playing video games, or I like to go for long walks and when it’s possible go fishing.
Got any party tricks?
I can shuffle a deck of cards.
Death row meal?
How would you spend a million pounds?
Traveling around the world.
